Prescription Requests – from 1st February 2021
From 1st February 2021 all prescriptions will be processed at Peel House Medical Practice (we will no longer be a part of the Acorn Centre Prescription Hub)
- Order online (e.g. Patient Access, NHS App etc.)
- Order with your pharmacy (if allowed, some restrictions apply.)
- Order by telephone – AFTER 1.30pm – If you are under the age of 18, over the age of 65 or are otherwise clinically exempt.
Please contact the practice if you have any queries, require any further information, or would like to sign up to online ordering.
We would encourage patients on regular repeat medications to register for online access. You can do this by emailing info.peelhouse@nhs.net and a member of staff will call you back during working hours. You will be asked to confirm your identity and answer some simple questions. We can then email you the information you need to register with your preferred online access provider.
Our teams are working very hard during these challenging times to continue providing support to our patients in a safe manner. Thank you for your support and understanding. Your prescription will be ready within 48 hours provided it has been approved by your GP.
All prescriptions will be sent electronically to a chemist. If you have not already registered for this service you will be contacted before your prescription can be issued.
If you get all your items at the same time each month you may also be suitable for Repeat Dispensing. Ask your pharmacist for details.
We are keen to ensure that patients with ongoing medical problems are regularly monitored. If the date for your review has passed you may be asked to make an appointment with a doctor or nurse, or you may be contacted by telephone.
Prescriptions for paracetamol, calpol, baby milk, scabies, head lice or worms will not be given as an emergency – these can all be purchased over the counter at the local Pharmacy.
NHS App
If you’re a patient at our practice you can now use the new NHS App, a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet.
You can use the NHS App to get health advice, book appointments, order repeat prescriptions, view your GP health record and more.

EPS – Electronic Prescription Service
Do you have a repeat prescription?
Did you know that every day GP’s in the UK issue 1.5 million paper prescriptions and 70% of these are repeat prescriptions?
A new system has been created to make it easier for you to pick up your repeat prescription. It is called the Electronic Prescription Service, or EPS for short.
The Electronic Prescription Service is an NHS service that sends your prescription from GP surgery to Pharmacy without the need for a paper copy.
Nominate a pharmacy of your choice and this pharmacy will receive your prescription directly from your GP, via the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS).
With EPS you will not have to visit your practice to pick up your paper prescription anymore.
You will have more choice about where to get your medicines from because you can choose a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop.
EPS is reliable, secure and confidential.
Your electronic prescription will only be seen by the same people in GP practices and pharmacies who see your paper prescription now.
If you are interested in using the Electronic Prescription Service speak to your pharmacist.
You can also find out more about the Electronic Prescription Service by logging onto systems.hscic.gov.uk/eps/patients
Please only order the medications you need.
Medication reviews
If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. Please book a routine appointment for your review.
Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine or your prescription please contact the surgery.
Your local pharmacists can also answer any questions about your prescription. They can answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
