As a practice, we recognise the invaluable role that carers play in our community, and it is our utmost priority to ensure that your needs are met, and you receive the support and resources you deserve.
Caring for a loved one can be an immensely rewarding experience, but it also comes with its own unique challenges. We understand the physical, emotional, and mental demands that carers face on a daily basis. That's why we have created this space as a hub of information, guidance, and assistance specifically tailored to your needs.
On this page, you will find a wealth of resources designed to empower and support you in your caregiving journey. We will provide you with valuable information on various health conditions, practical tips for managing caregiving responsibilities, and advice on self-care and well-being. Our goal is to equip you with the knowledge and tools to navigate the complexities of caregiving and maintain your own health and happiness.
At Peel House Medical Practice we are committed to working hand in hand with carers to ensure the best possible care for both you and your loved ones. We value your input and invite you to provide feedback, suggestions, or any specific topics you would like us to address on this page.
Your voices matter, and together, we can create a nurturing and inclusive environment for all carers!
We are proud to introduce our Carers Display Board in the waiting room at the practice. This dedicated space has been created with a specific purpose in mind— to recognise, honour, and support the incredible carers in our community. The display board also serves a practical purpose—to provide valuable information, resources, and support to carers. We believe that access to the right knowledge can empower carers and enhance their ability to provide the best care possible. Therefore, the board will feature educational materials, leaflets, and guides on various help available, caregiving tips, and self-care strategies. We want to equip carers with the tools they need to navigate their caregiving journey with confidence and resilience. At Peel House Medical Practice, we are dedicated to ensuring that carers feel seen, heard, and supported. Our Carers Display Board stands as a symbol of our appreciation for their unwavering dedication and as a beacon of hope for all those who share in the caregiving journey. Together, let us create a community that uplifts and celebrates the selfless acts of carers who make a profound difference in the lives of others.
Awareness and support
- Identifying patients who are also carers helps healthcare providers understand the unique challenges and responsibilities they may be facing. This knowledge allows healthcare professionals to provide appropriate support and resources to both the patient and the carer.
Health Implications
- Being a Carer can have an impact on a person's physical and mental health. It may lead to increased stress, fatigue, and a higher risk of developing caregiver burden or burnout. Knowing if a patient is a Carer enables healthcare providers to assess their well-being and provide necessary guidance or referrals to support services.
Collaborative Care
- If a patient is a Carer for another person, their caregiving role can influence their own healthcare decisions and treatment plans. Understanding their caregiving responsibilities can help healthcare providers involve carers in discussions, consider their needs and limitations, and develop a more comprehensive and patient cantered approach to care.
Please fill out the form using the link below & give to a member of reception once completed so we can update your record to identify you as a carer. You can also find them in waiting room 1. Once you've confirmed that you're a carer, you may be entitled to benefits such as a carers allowance, patient transport, or early vaccinations.

Our practice values and cares about carers because we recognise the significance of their role, prioritise their well-being, and aim to provide comprehensive support that extends beyond the patient alone.
Young Carers
It is important to recognise that not all carers are adults, and there is a significant population of young carers who shoulder caregiving responsibilities at a young age. These young individuals, often children and adolescents, provide care and support to family members who have chronic illnesses, disabilities, mental health conditions, or substance abuse problems.
Young carers demonstrate remarkable maturity, responsibility, and compassion as they navigate the challenges of caregiving alongside their own personal development. They often undertake tasks such as assisting with personal care, administering medication, managing household chores, and providing emotional support. These responsibilities can have a profound impact on their lives, affecting their education, social interactions, and overall well-being.
It is crucial to acknowledge the unique needs and experiences of young carers and provide them with appropriate support. By raising awareness and fostering collaboration among schools, healthcare providers, social services, and communities, we can ensure that young carers receive the necessary resources and assistance to thrive both as caregivers and as individuals.
Addressing the needs of young carers involves creating safe spaces for them to share their experiences, offering counselling services to help them cope with the emotional and mental challenges they may face, and implementing flexible educational programs that accommodate their caregiving responsibilities. Empowering young carers with the tools and support they need can help them maintain a balanced and fulfilling life while caring for their loved ones.
